Inspired by his Father Steve, Jonathon began racing relatively late in life. Debuting in the Porsche Cup in 2002 at the age of 21, Jonathon immediately demonstrated his talent, completing five seasons whilst building his reputation as a star of the future. Graduating from Porsches, Jonathon made the step up to the V8 Supercars Development Series in 2007, and the V8 Supercars Championship Series in 2010. Jonathon has proven his worth in this experienced category, scoring milestones well before his time, including a race win in his debut season.
Notably Jonathon is the only driver to win both the Bathurst 1000 and Bathurst 12 Hour in a single year (2016) for his own team TEKNO.
